Hello, Sweet Ones!

You know what time it is: we’re getting our Weekend Happy on.  And for those of you in snowier climes, I’m attaching some tropical lusciousness.

Currently listening to:

Not just one song, but this entire little playlist I put together for you.  Single? Together? Not sure?  In love? Teetering? This one’s for all of you.

Currently marveling over:

The fact that scientists just decoded the entire genome of a man who lived 4,000 years ago.  Most cool.

Currently contemplating a:

Currently working out using:

Craig’s system.  You remember — the guy I drooled over the other day? What he does really works.  For women and men.  Behold:

Not retouched. I've seen him in the flesh. Well, not biblically, but you get the point. Photo courtesy Craig Ballantyne. Click on it to see more humina-humina.

Currently coveting:

My friend Kristen’s wardrobe.

Love-tap! Currently planning:

To hop right back into my friend’s kayak as soon as it warms up here.  The other day, I was paddling away not far from a secluded mangrove, reciting a poem I’d just memorized.  (I know, it sounds totally geeky, but there’s a reason behind it.)  There’s a line about fathers in the poem.  I had buried my father four years to the day that I was kayaking, and the moment I said the word “Father,” I heard a noise and looked up:

Two dolphins, swimming in unison, glided past my kayak  – so close I could almost touch them.  I am a skeptic and don’t know if or what it “means,” but I sat there and watched them in their infinite grace and, for once, cried tears of happiness about him.

Beautiful.

Currently celebrating:

Darwin’s birthday!  And that of my best friend, even though the hussy insists on remaining younger than I.  I love you, darling!  (You would, too, if you were lucky enough to know her: profoundly insightful, razor-sharp, drop-dead beautiful, delicate, loyal, huge of heart and possessed of the best freckles ever to adorn a face.  Perhaps the most intelligent and most profound and kindest woman I’ve ever known.  Oh, and she’s French, so she’s all sexy and mysterious and stylish.  And, yes, of course she’s taken.)
Here’s to love, in whatever form we find it.  This weekend and always.
Sending heaps of it your way,

Holly
